Selvage Pouches

Hi Dear Friends! These selvage pouches didn’t appear here yet even I made them a while ago. After making cases for sunglasses and phones, I continued with {selvage & strips} inspiration.

Both pouches have selvages and strips on both sides. Same colour palet continues on the other side.

We have had two very busy weeks with puppies so zero sewing these days. I have started to make plans for a new, big quilt project. Looking for fabrics and trying to figure out how to make real my ideas. I’m sure it will be lots of fun and excitement!

Case for phone and sunglasses

Hi dear friends! Great to see you and hope you are fine! It’s beautiful spring, sun is shining and we are heading to summer.

phone and sunglass case by teje

I made new cases for sunglasses and phones!  I picked happy colours and add loop lock. You can catch the case on the loop of your jeans when going for a walk. If you like you can catch there also your keys or a strap to wear the case on your neck.

I have used selvages and add other strips and scraps for colour.

Closings are with magnetics and there are some fun details.

These cases are soft but firm enough to protect your sunglasses or phone. I have quilted the top piece with wadding and heavy-weight cotton and the cases have lining. The ribbon loop for the lock is small so if you don’t use the lock, it doesn’t bother.

Some of these cases are in my etsy shop ‘NERO’S POST‘. If you like to get other size or colour, I’m happy to make custom orders!

That smaller, flower case with strap is for my camera.

One baby quilt will be delivered soon and then I can show it to you! There are the driving Moomins! Next on my table are bag projects. One starts right now and I’m really happy to make that! I hope to baste the baby quilt ‘Puppy and Girl‘ soon. I have few new pouches to show. I made some new bracelets because they were almost finished. As you see, I do my best to focus this year!

Thank you for stopping by and reading my blog! Hanna and Nero send you hugs and thanks for your sweet comments on Hanna’s post!

Now first I shall print one bunny …

Have a great weekend!

Selvages, envelope block, paper piecing tips

Hello, hello hello! Weekend sewing was this time more about organizing all my selvages but also making one more block for The Honey Pot Bee by Molli Sparkles.

For March we got fantastic paper piecing pattern: Envelope block from ‘Tweety Loves Quilting’!

Here is my version in all it’s glory! I like this a lot! I thought the red may pop too much but perhaps it’s time to accept  that I do like red.

envelope and letter quilt block by teje

This block is generally easy to make and Alida’s pattern is very good. My headache was to find fabrics. I don’t have many with tekst and first I thought to create a card. But the space for letter is not very big and then I saw this red fabric on my self and decision was made (I had already cut one other fabric). You could add borders for your letter paper but I though I shall have enough challenge to make the envelope. For that I shall show you few of my tips.

This cute duck fabric has been just waiting on the self and from my fabrics, I think it was a good choise for the envelope. Here is how I feel easier to sew the diagonal pieces when paper piecing. Explination is always under the photo. This may look complicated but when you do this, you’ll see that it’s easy and quick.

Because I wanted to fussy cut (use certain parts of the fabric) pieces for the envelope, I had to place them exactly. Triangle on the left is sewn. You can see on the right triangle how I first pressed the seam allowance. On the right photo you see how I folded the paper pattern on the sewing line.

Then turn the paper so that you can fold the fabric on the same line as the paper. On the right you see the lines on the red fabric and on the duck-fabric.

Now you can put the triangle on the red fabric so that the lines match. Open the triangle and put few pins. Don’t sew yet.

Now turn your piece to see it from the paper side and add pins for sewing. Take away the pins from the fabric’s side and sew.

Trim the seam allowance to 1/4″. As you can see the balloon cords didn’t match as hard I tried. My mistake was that the triangle wasn’t exactly straight. We talk about 1 millimetre here! I went to eat and knew I have to fix it. I ripped only some stitches, sew 1 mm lower, pressed and voila, fixed! I sew the stamp with sik sak twice around.

paper piecing tips

My #saturdaynightcraftalong with Lucy from ‘Charm About You’ went with organizing all my selvages. I saw that if I want to use any of them, only way to find something is to empty all the box and arrange them somehow. On the left you see the 3.5″ squares I save from all the fabrics for my project: fabric sampler quilt (haven’t started yet).

selvages

Everything is out and in order. Those in the basket I have been already using! Yes, I took the brave step and thought they have been preserved long enough! Started to worry about the expiring date!

selvages by Nero's Post

To find something or looking what to use, there has to be some kind of order (for me). And they can’t stay on the table even how cute they look.

selvages by teje

On the left by colour, from blue, turquoise, green, yellow, red, brown, low volumes and black (2).

In the middle some collections still together and most favourites with few specials.

On the right solids and selvages from the side where is no text (yes I save those too).

*********  !!!  If you don’t use/save selvages, I’m interested !!!  *************

I use ‘BeFunky’ to make photo mosaics and for editing photos. I don’t edit my photos often but sometimes even the strong light of Greece is not enough or makes too strong shadows.

Hanna: New Fabrics and Beach

Vof vof dear friends! I hope your year has started great … mine did! Just before the Christmas I received new fabrics!

Hanna

I couldn’t believe my luck when I read late in the evening already almost sleeping from the IG that I won fantastic bag of stripes and selvages!

IMG_4124

Stephanie from ‘Spontaneous Threads’ shared most generously many bags of selvages and scraps! If you like, read her post HERE.  She had several different choises and I wished to win jelly roll stripes because I haven’t used much stripes… and I won, juppiiii!

IMG_3957

Of course I forgot to take photo of the parcel because I was so busy to see them all … and they are not all on the wall, yet!

selvages

Look the selvages filled my ironing board … I have big plans for these!

But now I take you to the beach …

Oh boy it was so windy yesterday! And I hadn’t camera with me so these are with phone. Look how my ears fly!

Life guard was not there … now one was … taverna was empty … only me on the empty beautiful beach …

I think I go there again today! But now back to fabrics …

IMG_4126

That orange at the edge spoke to me and I thought to make something little before I make any decisions about bigger project … how I rotate this … I don’t find it in this new way … I want to write with the old style …

IMG_4135

(now I managed to rotate the photo, but if you know how I can stay with the old style, let me know)

The best drink or what you think?!

orange juice

Thank you so much Stephanie! I’m so happy for these fabrics! Stephanie makes very inspiring and improvising quilts! I picked you one example HERE with her cute helper! Visit her in Instagram, too.

My orange juice glass is part of the #quilty365 project. I have done few mugs, but I’m really not sure if this is ‘me’. I like them but I’m not excited  and I want to be excited when I look my design wall. These are fun to make but then what? When I look what others have made, mostly I’m excited about Karen’s project, she uses batiks.  Perhaps I should try for the first time batiks. I’m linking my update to Audrey’s January linkup.

quilty 365 mugs

I wonder what I shall make with the stripes … that I saw in Pinterest … or perhaps the one in Instagram … maybe I go with the first fun idea that came to my mind … I think I have to start that to find again enthusiasm for quilting …

But first I shall go for a walk! It’s +22C  and sun is shining!

Thank you for reading my post and for your lovely comments! Thank you also for following us to our new address!
